The bridge that bonds us.


To the millions handful of Ninth North fans out there, I do apologize for the lack of news over the past several months. There is truly no excuse. Things have been very busy, very hectic, but I assure you: There will be updates aplenty. Soon.

For now, I'd like to tell you about a bridge that needs some help, and it happens to exist right here in Tampa Bay. It's the Friendship Trail Bridge, and it's scheduled for demolition in a matter of weeks. For nearly a decade, the bridge was used as a recreational pedestrian and bicycling trail open to all residents (and tourists, for that matter). While the bridge could use some TLC, studies indicate that it's likely strong enough to remain intact without major restoration until 2029.

Stop crying. Start creating.

The verdict is in, folks: St. Petersburg is one sad sack of depressed losers. According to Men's Health, if we aren't trying to kill ourselves with antidepressants because none of us have jobs, we will be soon enough. On the brightside, Men's Health doesn't consider St. Pete the overall worst city for men. It's only the 6th worst. Oh, and Tampa, don't think you have bragging rights. You're not doing so hot, either (and neither are you, Miami, Jacksonville, and Orlando).

Let's face it: It's easy to dismiss these lists. They get published so often it's hard to take any of them seriously. However, Tampa Bay consistently ranks low. Why? I'm not sure at all, but here's what I think:
